SWINE FLU still a threat
World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning of swine flu pandemic’s second wave. WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl of said “The WHO is still mobilized and worried,” spokesman Gregory Hartl said as the global health watchdog kept an anxious eye on some “mysterious” patterns of illness associated with the new A (H1N1) virus. WHO Director General Margaret Chan warned on Friday that there had been second and third waves in previous pandemics. “We cannot say for certain whether the worst is over or the worst is yet to come,” Chan said in a videotaped address to a symposium on flu in the Asia-Pacific region. “We need to be prepared for whatever surprises this capricious new virus delivers next,” she added. Swine flu is an infection caused by a virus. It’s named for a virus that pigs can get. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. The virus is contagious and can spread from human to human. Symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. There are antiviral medicines you can take to prevent or treat swine flu. There is no vaccine available right now to protect against swine flu. You can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza by Covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
In India it is not possible for common people to continuously spend money on disposable masks, which are supposed to be first line of prevention. The surgical masks that is usually priced 2 to 5 Rs. Is available now only for 30 to 50 Rs. When people started using handkerchiefs that price also shot up 10 times. The prices of aromtic oils like eucalyptus oil shot up 50 times. It is easier and very effective to use Garlic as first and only defense against Swine flu or Human flu or any other viral infection propagating through air. Just cut whole garlic transversely and keep in house at places more frequented by family members. School going children can wear a garland of few garlic pods around the neck. This should be renewed every day. For offices and big houses crush a pod of garlic and put it on any warm surface like mosquito pad heater, light bulb, and fan regulator etc. This will surely destroy the virus in the air. This is very effective and traditional type of preventive method used in India for thousands of years. This method is described in Atharva Veda. |
